Trending architectural theming materials for 2017

December 29, 2016

We recently attended – and exhibited at – the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) annual trade show. It was interesting to see what is trending for architectural theming materials.

This is an important event for us as the amusement park segment is one of the keystones for our business, as well as the hospitality, commercial and residential segments.

IAAPA is an innovative group and it was encouraging to see that the industry is growing – with new worldwide park development in the works for 2017, and there is lots of action and forward movement.

Here’s what we’re seeing for trending architectural theming materials:

  • Natural thatch and natural bamboo are on the decline in this segment.  Artificial thatch roofing and synthetic bamboo products have developed to the point where they deliver a nearly identical look and feel to the natural materials.
  • Synthetic and artificial bamboo and thatch are in demand due to lower maintenance, longevity and their generous warranty periods.
  • Natural thatch and natural bamboo continue to be strong for interior design and treatments, offering authentic beauty and lower costs.
  • Eucalyptus poles remain a powerhouse architectural theming material due to its strength and durability.

Pricing for synthetic thatch and synthetic bamboo poles look like it will remain stable.  However, an increase in oil prices could affect synthetic and artificial products costs.

2017 will also be a year of innovation and development for amaZulu, Inc.  We have a very exciting new product launching in June.  More on that later so please come back to our blog or connect with us on social media as we announce new products during the year.
