Can I paint these panels?
Yes, but it’s not easy. The panels are made from HDPE which is hard to make paint stick to. Some customers have found primers that work, but to date amaZulu has not, so we advise against applying paint as it will likely peel.
Can I glue the panels to the wall instead of using fasteners?
The bamboo panels have very little surface area to adhere to the wall, so we recommend using fasteners instead for a secure, long-lasting installation.
Do these bamboo panels come in a different size or color?
No, currently we only have this size (26.77″ x 39.37″) and color (natural bamboo tan with dark brown shading) available.
If I stack the panels one on top of the other to create a higher bamboo covering, do I need to use a trim piece to hide the join?
The panel was designed to interlock using the piece at the top of the panel, however you would see a join. If this is unsightly to you, certainly add a trim piece such as a natural bamboo slat or synthetic rope to cover the seam.
Are these bamboo panels flexible enough to take a curve?
Absolutely. These bamboo panels are flexible across the vertical line. For example, if you wanted to wrap the panel around a 2ft round pillar or pool pump, it would flex easily with the bamboo running vertically. However, if you turned the panel and tried to wrap it around the same round structure with the bamboo running horizontally, it would not be flexible enough.
