The Nashville Zoo wanted a viewing space that set the mood for the Spider Monkey Exhibition. It was important to create a consistent theme for the exhibition both outdoors and indoors.
Components
- South American Guadua bamboo
Challenge
Spider monkeys live in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Therefore, the Nashville Zoo wanted to only use native materials for the exhibit.
- Use South American Guadua bamboo for trim and focal pieces.
- Create a natural look to the exhibit both indoors and outdoors.
Strategy
Guadua is native to South America so it’s not a foreign material to the spider monkeys. By using Guadua bamboo, it provided the space an authentic look and feel.
Each piece of Guadua bamboo was hand selected for color, size and quality since it was being installed in a highly visible area.
Results
The Nashville Zoo now has native materials for the Spider Monkey Exhibit both outside and inside. As you can see from the photos, it’s absolutely stunning. The Zoo and its guests were delighted with the result.
