The Beauty of Bamboo Wainscoting

October 8, 2013

We typically think of wainscoting as painted wood trim rising from the floor to a few feet or even halfway up a wall.  Indeed, it’s is defined as “the lower three or four feet (about one meter) of an interior wall when finished differently from the remainder of the wall.” One of the upcoming trends is to incorporate bamboo wall paneling.  For some, that might be a bit excessive having an entire wall covered in bamboo matting, but have you ever considered bamboo wainscoting?

This classic interior architectural detail also has the practical advantage of guarding against scratches and scuffs. Originally, wainscoting covered water stains that appeared due to dampness from the ground. The term wainscot was taken from the name of high-quality oak that was imported for this kind of woodwork.

But wainscoting options are endless and need not refer to oak woodwork at all. Some people install a simple chair rail and patterned wallpaper to mimic the style, and in terms of materials, bamboo mats make a gorgeous surface treatment for wainscoting, as do the other natural materials.  We’ve had the privilege of working with so many resorts and hotels to implement bamboo wainscoting to transform their entranceways, hallways and even rooms.  Bamboo wainscoting truly adds that unique tropical touch to all areas of the property.

Amber Bamboo Board V

AmaZulu’s Bamboo Board and our many woven mat bamboo wall panels are an excellent alternative to wood, wallpaper or paint, especially if you want to enhance your home’s decor. Our Amber Bamboo Board is woven from the fiber at the center of a bamboo pole, smoked to achieve the rich color. The bamboo boards can be quickly installed temporarily or permanently over any existing wall or ceiling. Just nail or glue to your wall for a new refreshed look and exotic feel.

Bac-Bac Mat 01

Bac-Bac Mat is made from the leaves and fibers of banana trees and woven in a beautiful diamond pattern. One of its charming characteristics is the natural variation in color, which adds to the tropical appeal of the room it’s installed in. Bac-Bac Mat can be used as a bamboo wall paneling or a ceiling treatment.  Either way, it adds visual appeal to any room.

Our Bamboo Fencing, offered in a roll, can be easily installed and can be cut to fit any height or design style. To call it “fencing” may be somewhat limited because the product is quite versatile and has a range of applications. Try applying a bamboo wall covering on an island bar or bathroom decor for a fresh look that shows your individual sense of style.

At amaZulu, Inc. we offer a great number of options of decorative bamboo boards and mats made of natural materials, as well as bamboo slats that can spruce up the look and feel of any room.
